The street Corso Principe di Piemonte (now Corso del Popolo) had become the new main road linking Venice and Mestre due to the execution of the bridge across Venice's lagoon in the mid 30s. In the new street, almost empty of buildings, it was agreed the position of "Franchetti" High School. The first draft of the project (1936-38, in cooperation with Ing. A. Rosso) was not considered suitable to the "Fascist style". The second project was built in 1940-41. The great fresco in the main hall was carried out (in collaboration with Luciano Gaspari) by the painter Edmondo Bacci (who later become one of the greatest exponents of the Venetian movement Spazialismo) whom in the 50s would be charged by architect M. Arctico to paint some buildings in Mestre by fresco.
