"Taliercio" Sports Centre
Mestre (Venice), 1973-1977
In the early 70's was established by the proposal of private entrepreneurs to Mestre, the Company SEIS in order to provide the city's indoor stadium which was lacking, including for the Basketball championship contest of Mestre Series A. Main fea ture is the maxi -dome of 70 m diameter and 18 high . This tensile structure consists of two truss , welded, made of tubular steel fanned; the upper truss stringing to the foot to put the lower one (orthogonal) loaded in compression -only . Coverage is made of corrugated aluminum sheets insulated by polyurethane foam sprayed on site. The building was completed to structural rough in 1975, then it was sold by the SEIS to the Municipality, which completed the works.
